IT Projects & Migrations

Structured IT projects and migrations for NZ businesses—discovery, cutover planning, vendor coordination, and clean handover.

Big technology changes should not rely on a heroic weekend

Migrations and office moves often fail at the edges: an overlooked application, missing access, unclear ownership, or staff discovering the change on Monday morning. The technical task matters, but planning the business transition matters just as much. Tier1 gives meaningful technology change its own scope, delivery plan, and handover instead of improvising it between helpdesk tickets.

A project path people can see and prepare for

A controlled path from idea to stable handover:

  • Discovery, scoping, and success criteria
  • Delivery planning and risk notes
  • Vendor and supplier coordination
  • Implementation, testing, and cutover support
  • Documentation and post-project handover

Plan the cutover before touching production

We prioritise communication, rollback thinking, and user impact. Cutovers are planned around your trading patterns where possible, with clear owners for decisions and a definition of done that includes documentation—not only “it seems to work.”

For growth, consolidation, and overdue replacement

Businesses expanding to new locations, leaving legacy systems, consolidating tenants, or upgrading infrastructure that has become unreliable or unsupported.

A clean handover is part of being finished

Business timing constraints, must-keep applications, admin access paths, and who can approve decisions during cutover. The clearer those inputs, the smoother the project.

Frequently asked questions

Do you manage third-party vendors?

Yes. We coordinate with relevant vendors and suppliers to keep delivery moving and reduce the risk of gaps between parties.

Can you migrate us to Microsoft 365?

Yes. Mail, files, and collaboration migrations are common projects. We scope identity, data movement, security baselines, and user enablement as part of the plan.

Are projects included in managed IT fees?

Larger changes are usually scoped and quoted as projects so monthly support pricing stays transparent. Smaller changes may fit inside agreed managed scope depending on your plan.

Will staff get help after cutover?

Yes. Good projects include hypercare-style support and a handover into business-as-usual support so issues after go-live are not orphaned.

How do you handle rollback if something fails?

Where practical we define rollback or mitigation options during planning, especially for identity, mail, and network changes that can block the whole business.
